Windstar Cruises has officially opened reservations for its newest ship, Star Seeker, set to debut in December 2025. The small luxury yacht will sail in the Caribbean, Alaska, and Japan during its inaugural season, giving travellers the chance to experience its intimate atmosphere and new onboard amenities. Starting today, bookings are available for these highly anticipated voyages.
A Grand Maiden Voyage Across the Atlantic
Windstar Cruises’ Star Seeker’s maiden voyage kicks off on December 28, 2025, departing from Málaga, Spain. This transatlantic cruise will feature a special New Year’s Eve celebration in the Canary Islands, where passengers can enjoy fireworks and festivities alongside the Wind Star. During this 17-day ocean crossing, travellers will have plenty of time to indulge in the ship’s world-class features, including its Fitness Center, World Spa by Windstar, and a brand-new specialty restaurant.
This luxurious journey concludes in Miami, the headquarters of Windstar Cruises, on January 13, 2026. Following the cruise, the ship’s christening ceremony will take place in Miami, marking Star Seeker’s official entry into service.
First Caribbean Sailings Before Heading to Alaska
After its christening, Star Seeker will sail an eight-day voyage from Miami to San Juan on January 15, 2026. This celebratory journey will take guests through the Dominican Republic and the British Virgin Islands, offering a rare chance to experience the Caribbean aboard Windstar’s newest ship. It will also be a fleeting opportunity, as Star Seeker will not return to the Caribbean after this season, according to Windstar President Christopher Prelog.
A unique feature of these sailings includes a sunset parade past the famous Pitons in St. Lucia, with sister ships Wind Spirit and Star Pride joining in celebration. This will truly be a memorable farewell to the Caribbean for Star Seeker as it heads towards new horizons.
Epic Voyages Through the Panama Canal to Alaska
Following its Caribbean season, Star Seeker will transit the Panama Canal en route to Alaska, where it will begin its 2026 season. The ship offers several extended voyage options, including a 49-day journey from San Juan to Juneau, a 25-day cruise from Costa Rica, and a 17-day voyage from Mexico. These extended trips allow travellers to fully explore the region as they sail towards Alaska.
Once in Alaska, Star Seeker will offer two main itineraries: a seven or eight-day Scenic Alaska cruise and a longer Alaskan Splendors cruise, which ranges from 10 to 12 days. Both itineraries sail from Vancouver, B.C. to Juneau, Alaska, or in reverse. With smaller port stops like Haines and Wrangell, passengers can experience the stunning landscapes of Alaska with fewer tourists.
Signature Expedition Program: An Immersive Alaskan Experience
Windstar will also bring back its popular Signature Expedition Program for the Alaskan season, offering guests an immersive adventure into the region’s fjords, glaciers, and wildlife. From Misty Fjords National Monument to Kenai Fjords National Park and Tracy Arm Fjord, the Signature Expedition Program offers up-close experiences with the option to kayak or take small RIB boats directly from the ship's Watersports Platform.
A team of expert expedition guides will be onboard for the entire voyage, leading excursions and giving presentations on Alaska’s natural environment, culture, and history. This program is designed to allow guests to fully engage with the wild beauty of Alaska while learning from those who know it best.
A Return to Japan
After Alaska, Star Seeker will make its way across the Pacific to Japan in early September 2026. Windstar will bring back its sought-after Grand Japan itinerary, offering four sailings through October 2026. Highlights of this itinerary include cruising the Inland Sea, sailing around the abandoned island of Hashima, and visiting the Peace Memorial Parks in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Passengers will also enjoy stops at smaller ports like Takamatsu and Karatsu for a more intimate look at Japan’s history and culture.
Guests looking for even more of Japan can opt for a three-day inland exploration of Osaka and Kyoto. This exclusive land tour provides a deeper dive into the rich cultural heritage of these iconic cities.
Looking Ahead to 2026 and Beyond
Windstar Cruises last sailed to Alaska and Japan in 2023, and the addition of the Star Seeker allows the line to return to these beloved destinations. With additional itineraries in Southeast Asia currently under development, Windstar is set to expand its offerings even further in the coming years.
