Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is once again revolutionising entertainment at sea with the announcement of its latest show, "Revolution: A Celebration of Prince," set to debut on the upcoming Norwegian Aqua™ in 2025. This one-of-a-kind tribute to the legendary artist Prince will be the first-ever show dedicated to the global icon to be staged at sea, marking a significant milestone in cruise entertainment.
"Revolution: A Celebration of Prince" by Norwegian Cruise Line promises to be more than just a performance; it’s a concert-like experience that will honour Prince's legacy and contributions to music. Developed in collaboration with Prince Legacy, LLC and Primary Wave Music, this immersive show will feature some of Prince’s most beloved hits, including "Let's Go Crazy," "Little Red Corvette," and the timeless classic "Purple Rain."
David J. Herrera, President of Norwegian Cruise Line, shared his excitement about this project, stating, "For decades, NCL has set the standard in entertainment at sea, with world-class productions and talent that rivals those found in major cities like Las Vegas, New York City and London. For Norwegian Aqua, we are thrilled to build on our legacy of excellence in entertainment to offer our guests more options across the ship, including exclusive original productions that cannot be seen anywhere else on land or at sea."
NCL's creativity doesn't stop with its Prince tribute. They are also unveiling an updated version of their guest-favourite show, "Elements," reimagined as "Elements: The World Expanded." The refreshed show will retain its mesmerising blend of acrobatics, magic, and captivating aerial performances but will now incorporate new visual effects and state-of-the-art technology to create an even more immersive experience.
According to Patricia Wilcox, the award-winning Broadway choreographer and director behind both shows, "I've always been inspired by Prince and the idea came to me, nearly seven years ago, to create a theatrical concert that would joyfully celebrate his music and exceptional artistry. After loving my past collaborations with the team at Norwegian Cruise Line, I knew we would be wonderful partners for this collaboration, and I'm honoured to bring this show to life."
The Norwegian Aqua isn’t just about its new productions; it will also feature a variety of innovative entertainment venues and returning crowd-pleasers that elevate the onboard experience. Here’s what guests can expect:
The Aqua Theater & Club will transform from a multi-level theatre by day into a Vegas-style nightclub by night, complete with an expansive dance floor, interactive lighting, and themed events such as the "90s Party," "Livin' La Vida Loca," and "Pop Life," inspired by Prince's iconic music. Guests will have the option to join in on the dance floor or enjoy the performances from traditional seating.
The beloved Syd Norman's Pour House returns, featuring live rock-and-roll performances with tributes to legendary bands like Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones. This venue's intimate dive-bar atmosphere has always been a hit with guests, and now it will be expanded to the main theatre, accommodating over 700 guests.
Bryan Anthony White, NCL's Vice President of Entertainment Production, emphasised the importance of this comprehensive entertainment offering, saying, "Our talented performers and the staff behind-the-scenes who bring our original productions to life are one-of-a-kind, and their dedication, passion and effort truly shines through when watching these exceptional shows."
Starting in April 2025, Norwegian Aqua will embark on a series of exciting seven-day Caribbean voyages departing from Port Canaveral, Florida. The ship’s itinerary includes stops at tropical destinations like Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, and Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island in The Bahamas. Later in the year, Norwegian Aqua will sail five and seven-day cruises to Bermuda from New York City, followed by Eastern Caribbean itineraries from Miami through to April 2026.
As Norwegian Aqua prepares to launch in 2025, NCL’s latest entertainment line-up promises to be an unmatched blend of music, dance, and immersive performances at sea. With the first-ever tribute to Prince and the reimagined Elements show, guests will be treated to world-class productions that capture the essence of live entertainment, all while sailing to some of the most stunning destinations in the Caribbean and beyond.
