Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), a pioneer in global cruise travel, has announced the expansion of its Military Appreciation Program to include active Canadian service members, veterans, and their dependents. This program, which has already been well-received in the United States, now extends its benefits to members of the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Canadian Air Force, and Canadian Coast Guard.
Effective immediately, eligible Canadian military personnel can enjoy special onboard experiences, amenities, and a 10 percent discount on cruise fares across all NCL sailings and ships.
Honouring Military Service
David J. Herrera, President of Norwegian Cruise Line and a former member of the U.S. Army National Guard, expressed his enthusiasm for this expansion, stating, "The NCL family is committed to supporting the military community, and it is an honour to expand the benefits of our Military Appreciation Program to our allies in Canada. It is a privilege to welcome men and women who have bravely served their countries, along with their families, on board our ships."
Program Benefits
Since its inception in November 2022, NCL's Military Appreciation Program has provided active U.S. service members, veterans, and retired military personnel with a 10 percent discount on cruise fares. This offer can be combined with NCL’s Free at Sea package, which includes perks such as unlimited open bar, specialty dining, shore excursion credits, and more. Onboard, military guests and their families receive special amenities and experiences, including a dedicated reception, a welcome packet, and other exclusive offerings.
The program leverages ID.me, a secure digital identity network, to verify the eligibility of service members. This allows both U.S. and Canadian military personnel to confirm their identity once and enjoy continuous access to program benefits without the need for re-verification.
Expanding Community and Support
Derek Lloyd, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Canada-based Vice President of Sales for North America, highlighted the company's dedication to the military community: "The expansion of our Military Appreciation Program is a testament to our organisation's passion for supporting and giving back to military service members. Fostering a sense of community and providing military members with a welcoming environment to relax with family and friends is an honour for Norwegian Cruise Line."
Recently, NCL also extended the program's eligibility to include members of the NOAA Corps (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, further broadening the scope of support.
A Program Developed by Veterans, for Veterans
The NCL Military Appreciation Program was developed with the insight and experience of veterans, ensuring it meets the needs and expectations of those it serves. Since its launch, the program has seen significant engagement, with over 190,000 military members registering and more than 150,000 participants booking cruise vacations with NCL.
Embrace the Opportunity
This expansion of the Military Appreciation Program underscores NCL's commitment to honouring the bravery and dedication of military service members from both the United States and Canada. By providing exclusive benefits and a supportive community, NCL ensures that those who have served their countries can enjoy well-deserved relaxation and adventure at sea.
If you're a member of the Canadian Armed Forces or the U.S. military, now is the perfect time to take advantage of Norwegian Cruise Line's Military Appreciation Program. Whether you're looking to relax with family or embark on an exciting adventure, NCL offers unparalleled experiences and exceptional service.
