More than 100 voyages are now on sale, covering the South Pacific, Far North Queensland, New Zealand, and Tasmania.  Carnival Cruise Line Reveals Australia 2028/29 Programme 7:33 [**The season**](https://www.carnival-news.com/2026/10/28/carnival-cruise-line-reveals-2028-29-program-for-australia-on-sale-today) also includes three departures with distinct themes or formats. Carnival Encounter will sail a solar eclipse cruise from Brisbane in July 2028 and a brand-new 13-day New Zealand voyage, while Carnival Splendor will offer a Melbourne Cup cruise from Sydney in November 2028. ![Carnival Brisbane.jpg](https://blog.swblack.com.au/hs-fs/hubfs/Carnival%20Brisbane.jpg.jpg?width=794&height=447&name=Carnival%20Brisbane.jpg.jpg) [Image courtesy of Carnival Cruise Line](https://www.carnival.com/itinerary/2-day-getaway-cruise/brisbane/luminosa/2-days/ct4?itinportcode=BNE&sailDate=03132028&numGuests=2&military=N&senior=N&pastGuest=N&evsel=&hideSailingEvents=true&locality=1¤cy=USD&roomType=IS) ## Sydney and Brisbane Lead the 2028-29 Programme The new season is built around two Australian departure points. Sydney will host Carnival Splendor, while Brisbane will host Carnival Encounter, giving travellers a clear way to begin sorting the more than 100 voyages now available. ### Carnival Splendor Will Sail from Sydney Carnival Splendor will sail from Sydney during the 2028-29 programme. Its departures form part of the wider schedule reaching the South Pacific, Far North Queensland, New Zealand, and Tasmania. Sydney also hosts one of the season’s named special sailings. Splendor will operate a Melbourne Cup cruise in November 2028. Travellers interested in sailing from Sydney therefore have both the broader regional programme and an event-linked departure to compare. ### Carnival Encounter Will Sail from Brisbane Carnival Encounter will operate from Brisbane during the same season. Two of the headline additions in the new programme sit within Encounter’s schedule. The ship will sail a solar eclipse cruise from Brisbane in July 2028. It will also introduce a brand-new 13-day cruise from Brisbane to New Zealand. These two departures give the Brisbane programme distinct choices based on event timing and voyage length. ### More Than 100 Voyages Are on Sale More than 100 voyages are already on sale across the Australian programme. The scale gives travellers a wide selection across two ships, two departure cities, and four named regions. The South Pacific, Far North Queensland, New Zealand, and Tasmania all feature in the season. A useful first step is to choose Sydney or Brisbane, then compare the destinations and sailing lengths available from the chosen city. This keeps the search focused before moving into individual departures. ## Three Standout Cruises Shape the Season Three voyages receive particular emphasis within the 2028-29 programme. They are the July 2028 solar eclipse cruise, the new 13-day Brisbane to New Zealand sailing, and the November 2028 Melbourne Cup cruise from Sydney. ### A Solar Eclipse Cruise Departs from Brisbane Carnival Encounter will sail a solar eclipse cruise from Brisbane in July 2028. Carnival has identified this departure as a highlight of the season. Its timing gives travellers a specific month to consider within the broader Brisbane programme. The eclipse focus also gives the sailing a different reason for travel from the regional itineraries elsewhere in the schedule. For travellers interested in this departure, July 2028 becomes the key planning point. ![Carnival fun day at sea banner](https://blog.swblack.com.au/hs-fs/hubfs/Carnival%20fun%20day%20at%20sea%20banner.jpg?width=794&height=265&name=Carnival%20fun%20day%20at%20sea%20banner.jpg) [Image courtesy of Carnival Cruise Line](https://www.carnival.com/itinerary/2-day-getaway-cruise/brisbane/luminosa/2-days/ct4?itinportcode=BNE&sailDate=03132028&numGuests=2&military=N&senior=N&pastGuest=N&evsel=&hideSailingEvents=true&locality=1¤cy=USD&roomType=IS) ### A New 13-Day Cruise Heads to New Zealand Encounter will also introduce a brand-new 13-day cruise from Brisbane to New Zealand. The voyage adds a longer-form option to the ship’s 2028-29 programme. The confirmed details centre on three points: Brisbane as the departure city, New Zealand as the destination, and a 13-day duration. Those details make the sailing easy to distinguish from the wider programme. Travellers seeking a longer Brisbane departure have a clearly defined option to place on their shortlist. ### A Melbourne Cup Cruise Leaves Sydney Carnival Splendor will sail a Melbourne Cup cruise from Sydney in November 2028. This gives the Sydney programme its own event-linked voyage. The November timing separates the sailing clearly within the wider season. Its Melbourne Cup theme also provides a different basis for choosing a cruise beyond region or voyage length. Travellers interested in the departure have a specific ship, city, month, and event focus to compare with other Sydney sailings. ## Four Regions Broaden the Destination Choice The 2028-29 programme reaches four named areas: the South Pacific, Far North Queensland, New Zealand, and Tasmania. This gives travellers several destination directions alongside the two departure cities and the three highlighted sailings. ### The South Pacific Forms Part of the Wider Schedule The South Pacific is one of the main regions included in the new programme. It sits alongside Far North Queensland, New Zealand, and Tasmania, with more than 100 voyages on sale. For travellers, the region provides one clear category when narrowing the season. Departure city and sailing date, then help reduce the available choices further. This keeps destination preference at the centre of the comparison. ### Far North Queensland Adds Another Regional Option Far North Queensland also features in the 2028-29 schedule. Carnival has included it as one of the four named areas served by the new programme. Travellers interested in this part of the season have another region to compare with the South Pacific, New Zealand, and Tasmania. The departure city and individual voyage will determine which sailing best fits their plans. The regional label gives a useful starting point before reviewing specific departures. ![Carnival Luminos.png](https://blog.swblack.com.au/hs-fs/hubfs/Carnival%20Luminos.png.jpg?width=794&height=265&name=Carnival%20Luminos.png.jpg) [Image courtesy of Carnival Cruise Line](https://www.carnival.com/itinerary/2-day-getaway-cruise/brisbane/luminosa/2-days/ct4?itinportcode=BNE&sailDate=03132028&numGuests=2&military=N&senior=N&pastGuest=N&evsel=&hideSailingEvents=true&locality=1¤cy=USD&roomType=IS) ### New Zealand and Tasmania Complete the Four Regions New Zealand and Tasmania complete the destination mix named for the season. New Zealand receives extra attention through Encounter’s new 13-day voyage from Brisbane. Tasmania also forms part of the broader programme of more than 100 sailings. Together, the two regions add further choices alongside Far North Queensland and the South Pacific. Travellers therefore have several regional directions to consider before choosing a ship and departure date. --- With more than 100 voyages from Sydney and Brisbane, our[**Cruise Finder**](https://cruisefinder.swblack.com.au/) gives you a practical way to compare Carnival sailings by ship, departure city, date, voyage length, and region.
